The Australian Working Holiday visas are popular choice for young adults who would like to have an extended holiday in Australia as a tourist (usually around 1 year), and this visa can allow you to work to fund your stay. You can extend this visa for second time and third time if you have conducted some specific work.

The working holiday visa usually consists of two visas:

  • Work and Holiday visa (subclass 462)
  • Working Holiday visa (subclass 417)

The first Australian working holiday visa application requirements:

  • Your home country must on the approved list. Subclass 462 and 417 has two separate country list, check before apply.
  • You must be between 18-30 years age (inclusive); Canadian, French and Irish citizens can be 18 to 35 years age (inclusive).
  • Must not hold 462 or 417 visas before
  • Have enough money to support your travel (usually around $5,000 AUD).
  • 462 visa applicants must have Function English level (IELTS 4.5 or PTE 30
  • 462 visa applicants must have Tertiary education level

The second and third Australian working holiday visa application requirements:

For 462 and 417 visa holders to apply for second or third working holiday visa, they need to do ​​​​​​​​​Specified subclass 417 work and ​​​​​​​​​​Specified subclass 462 work. The specified work must be on the following industries in Regional Australian areas only:

  • plant and animal cultivation
  • fishing and pearling
  • tree farming and felling
  • tourism and hospitality
  • construction
  • bushfire recovery work
  • critical COVID-19 work
  • mining
